Leave out a single spoke in a bicycle wheel, and the whole wheel fails to function as intended. Even the smallest disruption in design alters its workability.
Wholeness isn’t about being “good.” It simply means things work.
The same is true of being human. When the integrity of who we are is compromised—even slightly—it begins to shape our lives. At first, the impact may be invisible. A nagging discomfort. A tendency to defend, explain, or blame. A quiet tolerance of unworkability we would once have rejected.
These shifts happen in small increments. What was once 100% becomes 99… then 98… then 70. And it’s in that missing 1% where the quality of life begins to erode. Our sense of self becomes obscured, and the path back to authenticity grows harder.
But the reverse is also true: each step toward integrity tips the scales. Each act of authenticity restores power, clarity, and effectiveness.
Integrity and a life of effectiveness are inseparable.
