Popular doesn’t mean better. It simply means more people like this thing than that thing.
Popularity isn’t genius. It’s usually either a deliberate choice—to serve a large, homogenous audience—or the result of a lucky break.
The fastest way to become popular? Serve the same audience that made the last thing popular. Which is why popular so often means “not better,” just more familiar.
The world rewards popularity. But that doesn’t mean it should be your goal.
